Fresh 12″: Area’s “Cellicos” EP with remixes by Brendon Moeller and Davor O.

Chicago based dj/producer m50 has been producing music under the alias Area for a while now. With releases for Echospace Detroit and Francois K’s Wave Music, this singl brings together artists affiliated both with the New York and Detroit musical circles. Fresh of the press for UK based label FullBarr,  Cellicos EP brings 3 tracks and an ambient bit for those DJ’s keen to creatively fulfilling time on the dance floor. Excellent feedback from Laurent Garnier, DJ Hell, Claude Von Stroke, Francois K, Slam, somewhat guarantees this is a premium cut of well thought out mixture of IDM, Techno and House. The Jolka Experience

jolka_sectAfter the initial vinyl test pressing released earlier this year, The Jolka Experience is finally out in stores and dance floor worldwide! Already in the record bags of Ben Sims, Rolando and Luke Slater, have no doubt this is a premium cut of sensible, dub infused, dancefloor oriented deep techno.

The EP starts  with Inception, a signature track with circulating synth and comforting keys, all about hitting a melancholic vibe and keeping it between sustain and release. It’s no wonder that deeper shades of techno came into collective consciousness as music like this has the tendency to get under your skin, simply asking for repeated plays.  Arcus plays along the same vibe but has a more ghostly character, definitely something for the late morning haze.  Convection is the fierce one , progressing and mellowing out on the pads, with strong rhythm and sense of direction. This is a track that leads to the subtle peaks of deep techno. The last track, Dreamful, offers a place for imagination to run loose. Pumping layers of reverberating synths unfold through space as beautiful pads fill the spaces in between. A great track to finish off an excellent EP ! Check out Juno for vinyl.

Jolka’s spoke to Electronic Directory Japan earlier this month, and also has a new DJ mix up there  (including tracks and remixes  by fellow Croatians Davor O., Homeboy and Petar Dundov). Recommended !

Examine confesses and undresses

Examine "Confess And Undress" Manual Music Ratko Filipovic aka Examine has had quite a productive year. After releasing music for Savior, Stolen Moments and Etoka records, his new singl “Confess and Undress” arrives on Holland based Manual Music. The original track is a classy production based on a melody that easely flows into ears.  Dirk Diggler remodels the original in his driving tech-house style many might be familiar with from his production on Resopal and Raum.  A stream of dub synth evolves slowly and invitingly,  placing the seed on top of the groove which flourishes later on in the track. Crispy material for four in the morning that will definitely get your tie off ! Thomas Lauren takes on the remix more dramaticaly from the start with original layers of seducing bright melodies and lush chords.  Perfect tune for an open air summer party.

Check Manual Music website and Examine’s myspace for details.

Florence Foster Fan Club release debut album Everyday Theatre

florence foster fan clubFlorence Foster Fan Club is the brainchild of Zarkof and Yas, two electronic music artists coming from a small industrial city of Sisak. Named after what is considerably the worst vocalist in the history of music, Florence Foster Jenkins, their sound and production resembles nothing of the tasteless adjective soup attributed to the lady diva. Undeniably, they’ve described the project best themselves.

Florence Foster Fan Club came to light straight from the darkest nightmares on reanimation of lost technological anti-utopia. All the worse things that emerged out of the post-industrial civilisation are nowadays in full glow. FFFC are here to smear this with loops without choruses, un-synced synthesizers and fierce sound of drum pads.

Having played a bunch of hardware-only live shows throughout Croatia, Germany and Netherlands, the guys compiled their album from a body of work made from 2006 to 2009. The game here is electro in diversified shapes and form that will cater your ears and question your image of self by pure friction. Titled Everyday Theatre, the album is a deeply confessional voyage into a world that, somewhat sadly, never happened. Apart from the early EBM, dark wave electro influences, FFFC comes through as  a band with a perplexed, engaged lyrical messages sarcastic of today’s consumerist climate and disruptive materialism. It’s like they say, this is an electronic vocal dark-body-pop duo for the proto-apocalyptic era.

Florence Foster Fan Club album Everyday Theatre is out on Brazilian label Wave Records. Head over to their myspace for music, videos and tour dates !

Davor’s Transitional Objects remixes 12″ on Matrix Records

juno vinyl coverHailing from Croatia, Davor is the latest talent to join the long list of Matrix international artists. “Transitional Objects” is an amazingly epic track made in the image of the classics of techno.

On the original mix, Davor concocts a dark brew of tweaky bleeps and shredded atmospheric chords. Digital shards echo into the distance, as Chicago acid house meets the 21st century.  Warm Detroit soul washes over the track in waves, one after the other.  Underneath, bubbling bass and precision percussion keep feet moving.Fellow Croatian Jolka reshapes the track into tough, melodic techno.  Juicy synths and an insistent bass line propel the remix in the grand Kanzleramt tradition.  A luscious breakdown shows he’s got bleeps up his sleeve, too. Chicago-Berlin resident Area flips the original into a reduced entropy version floating on deep bass and creating a post-industrial atmosphere. Finally, the “No Gravity Mix” pulls the percussion and highlights the rich textures of the original.  It’s like audio time-lapse photography, as electronic flora bloom and multiply.

If you missed out on the very first Convextion records on Matrix in 1996, now is your chance to get what is sure to be another highly revered and sought after Matrix treasure.  The first pressing is a limited release colored vinyl edition and will be highly sought after by collectors and fans.

DJ support: Santiago Salazar, Russ Gabriel, Kirk Degiorgio, Patrice Scott, Kevin Gorman, Miles Sagnia, Jack de Marseille, Juho Kahilainen, Aaron-Carl, Grovskopa, Samuli Kemppi, Marco Passarani, Andrew Duke, Phase
